MacchinAI extension privacy policy
Last updated: 20 October 2026.
This policy applies to the “MacchinAI — linked browser” Chrome extension. It explains what data the extension processes when a person links their browser to a MacchinAI installation.
Extension provider
ADN PROG, SAS, Résidence Jules Ferry, Le Beaulieu B, 11 avenue Jules Ferry, 74200 Thonon-les-Bains, France — Thonon-les-Bains Trade and Companies Register no. 808 239 503. Contact: contact@adnprog.com.
When an organisation uses its own MacchinAI installation, it may be the controller for processing carried out in that installation. Users should also contact the relevant installation administrator about retention rules and data-subject requests concerning that data.
How the extension works
After the user enters the installation address and a linking code, the extension opens a separate window in which authorised agents can open web pages, read visible content, and perform actions requested by the user or allowed in MacchinAI. Results are returned to the linked MacchinAI installation.
Data processed
- Link data: MacchinAI installation address, link token, browser name, user name returned by the installation, connection status and number of authorised agents.
- Browsing data from agent-only tabs: page addresses, titles, visible text, interactive elements and action results. An explicit request may also create a screenshot or PDF of a page.
- Entered data: agents can fill fields on open pages. Password field values are not included in text snapshots. Secrets supplied through the dedicated function are held for the browser session so they can be redacted from returned text snapshots.
- Technical data: command and session identifiers, results, errors and connection-status timestamps.
Depending on the sites visited and actions requested, this data may include personal or confidential information. The extension must therefore only be linked to a trusted installation and used by authorised agents.
Purposes and legal bases
Data is used to link the browser to MacchinAI, perform requested browsing actions, return their results, maintain the connection and secure the service. Processing is necessary to provide the requested service and, depending on the context, to perform a contract or pursue the user organisation’s legitimate interest in automating operations while retaining control of the browser.
Chrome permissions
- Website access (<all_urls>), tabs and scripting: open requested pages, read visible elements and interact with them in dedicated tabs.
- debugger: control browsing actions and, on request, create screenshots or PDFs.
- storage: retain configured links, their tokens and their status.
- alarms and background: maintain communication with the linked installation while the extension popup is closed.
These permissions are used only to provide the stated linked-browser features.
Recipients and transfers
Data is sent to the MacchinAI installation whose address is entered by the user. Visited websites receive the requests needed to display them and perform actions, as with ordinary browsing. The extension contains no advertising network or audience analytics tool, and ADN PROG does not sell data processed by the extension.
Hosting location and any international transfers depend on the linked MacchinAI installation and the websites visited.
Retention and deletion
Link data is retained locally in Chrome until the user selects “Disconnect” or “Forget”, or uninstalls the extension. Session data is retained for the browser session. Retention of commands and results on the MacchinAI side depends on the linked installation’s settings and policy.
To end a link, the user can select “Disconnect” in the extension. The link can also be removed or disabled in MacchinAI. Uninstalling the extension removes its local data in accordance with Chrome’s operation.
Security
The extension separates agent tabs, blocks local and private addresses and the linked installation address in those tabs, and redacts from text snapshots secrets supplied through the dedicated function. Users remain responsible for access to their browser, the trustworthiness of the linked installation and the agents they authorise.
Your rights
Under the GDPR, where applicable, you may request access, rectification, erasure, restriction or objection, and portability of relevant data. Email contact@adnprog.com. You may also lodge a complaint with the CNIL. For data retained in an installation administered by your organisation, first contact that installation’s administrator.
Changes
This policy may be updated to reflect changes to the extension or applicable requirements. The date at the top of the page indicates the latest update.
